India, Dec. 4 -- Oscar winner Helen Mirren and two-time Oscar nominee Ian McKellen, two of the most respected acting stalwarts, are coming together on screen for the first time in The Good Liar.

"I knew they were great sparring partners," shares director Bill Condon. But one thing that surprised him once production began on the film was the distinctly disparate ways in which the two approached their craft.

"For Helen, I think it's more about the immediacy of the experience and how it comes to life in the moment, whereas with Ian, it's about rehearsal and discussion, and examining the script from every angle as well as the blocking, costumes, and props," says Condon, adding, "It was fascinating to watch their interaction.
