Mercury set to rise in Himachal, dry weather likely to prevail
Dharamshala, June 7 -- With dry weather expected to prevail across Himachal Pradesh in the coming days, both maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to see a rise, according to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Shimla office.
After witnessing light rainfall in recent days, dry conditions are now expected across all districts of the state. The MeT office in Shimla office has predicted dry weather until June 10 so far. The high-hill areas may witness light rain at isolated places on June 11 and 12.
IMD officials said that due to the prevailing dry conditions, maximum temperatures are expected to gradually increase by 4-6degC, while minimum temperatures may rise by 3-5degC, over many parts of the state over the next 2-3 days.
In the past 24 hours, light rainfall was reported at isolated locations in the state. The highest amount was recorded in Rohru at 10 mm, followed by 6.0 mm each in Palampur and Bharmaur. Chopla received 4.2 mm, Jogindernagar recorded 2.0 mm, and Manali saw 1.4 mm of rainfall. During this time the minimum temperatures rose appreciably by 3-5degC at several locations but remained 2-3degC below normal, ranging between 5degC and 23degC across the state.
No significant change was observed in maximum temperatures during the same period. However, at most stations, they remained 2-4degC below normal, ranging between 18degC and 37degC.
