MC sets up night shelter in Phase 6
Mohali, Dec. 27 -- In view of the harsh winters, Mohali municipal corporation (MC) has repaired and made the night shelter in Phase 6 fully operational to ensure safe, hygienic, and dignified accommodation for those in need.
The facility, with a total capacity of 42 beds, comprises three spacious and well-ventilated halls with attached bathrooms. Adequate kitchen facilities have been arranged, along with necessary utensils to meet the daily needs of residents. Inmates will also be provided with five blowers and five geysers, along with new bedsheets, quilts/blankets, and mattresses.
Comprehensive fire safety arrangements have been put in place, and fogging operations have been conducted to maintain hygiene and protect residents from mosquito-borne diseases. For meal arrangements, the MC has collaborated with gurdwaras and temples in Phase-6 to ensure regular and timely food supply for the residents. Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh said the MC is committed to the welfare, safety, and dignity of homeless citizens, particularly during the harsh winter spell.
