Chandigarh, Nov. 27 -- In the 358th meeting of the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of the Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC), the agenda item regarding the widening of the V-6 road in front of House No. 46-50, Sector 2, Chandigarh, at an estimated cost of Rs.29.26 lakh, was approved. The meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairpersonship of mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, in the presence of commissioner Amit Kumar, Saurabh Joshi and councillor Jasmanpreet Singh along with the concerned officers of the MC. The proposal has been initiated to enhance the carriageway width and ensure smoother and safer vehicular movement for area residents. The major scope of work under this project includes earthwork in excavation and carriage, providing and laying granular sub-base, providing and laying wet mix macadam, providing and laying 50 mm bituminous macadam (BM) and 30 mm bituminous concrete (BC). The committee observed that widening this stretch of the V-6 road will significantly improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and benefit daily commuters and residents of Sector 2.
