MC destroys 13kg of stale meat in Mohali
Mohali, July 12 -- The municipal corporation (MC) conducted surprise inspections at 13 meat shops in Phase 1, Phase 6, in Madanpur and Mataur village.
During the inspection, approximately 13 kg of stale and foul-smelling meat was seized and discarded. The MC has also issued fines to several shopkeepers.
The action was prompted after municipal corporation received public complaints regarding unauthorised meat sales and distribution of unsafe meat in the locality.
The operation was led by Jorawar Singh, following directions from municipal commissioner Parminder Pal Singh. Most of the shops inspected were found operating without valid municipal licences, while some were allegedly slaughtering goats illegally at undisclosed locations.
Seven shops were found with spoiled meat, which was destroyed on the spot using disinfectants.
The violators have been summoned to present relevant documents at the municipal office.
Authorities warned that strict action, including sealing of shops, will be taken against repeat offenders.
