Panchkula, April 7 -- The state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has arrested a divisional accountant posted with the marketing board in Sector 20, Panchkula, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.23,000. The accused, identified as Hardev Singh, was caught red-handed on Monday while taking the bribe from Hemant Sharma, a contractor and resident of Sector 27. Sharma, in his complaint to the ACB, had alleged that the accused had demanded Rs.28,000 to clear his pending bills and had already taken Rs.5,000 as an advance. Acting on the complaint, the ACB team laid a trap and caught Singh while he was accepting the remaining Rs.23,000. Following this, an FIR under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the accused. He will be produced before a local court on Tuesday....
