Mohali, May 27 -- Chief minister Bhagwant Mann along with Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal launched easy registry for property system across Punjab at the deputy commissioner's office in Mohali on Monday. Under the easy registration scheme that is aimed at eliminating corruption in tehsil offices, residents will have the freedom to select any office of sub- registrar in the district, where the property to be registered, is located. Citizens can then decide to register the sale deeds at the office closest to their residence. The residents will have the option of doorstep collection of documents for submission. The payment for the registration of sale deed will be allowed through sewa sahayaks. The registration of sale deeds will be processed within 48 hours of the submission of documents. The citizens can submit documents, make payments and receive pre-approval for their sale deed from their residence through the anywhere registration portal that will have a single online payment gateway to pay all fee, including stamp duty. The CM and Kejriwal announced that the system will be implemented across the state by July 15. A trial run will be conducted in every district between July 15 and August 1, after which the system will be fully operational state-wide from August 1. Mann said accountability of the officers has been fixed and a proper mechanism of checks and balances has been introduced. "This is a revolutionary step. People will no longer have to run from office to office or deal with agents or middlemen. The entire process-from start to finish-will be accessible on a mobile phone, and it will be fast, transparent, and efficient," said Mann. Kejriwal further stated that the introduction of online payments through a unified gateway, the elimination of cash transactions, and a dedicated WhatsApp-based corruption reporting system have significantly reduced the scope for unofficial payments and middlemen. The platform also allows citizens to draft their own deeds using the "Draft My Deed" tool or avail low-cost assistance at Sewa Kendras or via Seva Sahayaks, thereby avoiding hefty charges from private deed writers and agents....
