Man stabbed to death in P'kula, juvenile held
Panchkula, April 29 -- A 20-year-old man was allegedly murdered by a minor over an old rivalry near Labour Chowk in Sector 16, Panchkula, late Monday night around 11.30, police said.
The victim, identified as Mohit, a resident of Rajiv Colony in Sector 17, was stabbed multiple times with a sharp-edged weapon.
He was rushed to the civil hospital in Sector 6, where he was declared dead on arrival.
During investigation, police caught a minor, believed to be around 16 years old, from Mauli village in Chandigarh. Officials said his involvement in the crime has been established, adding that he was the sole assailant. Police revealed that the accused and the victim had a history of prior enmity, including an earlier altercation.
The juvenile was also booked in a murder case in Chandigarh in 2023, police officials added.
Hailing from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Mohit worked as a vegetable vendor at a local market. A murder case has been registered at the Sector 14 policestation.
The post-mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday.
Four men barged into an apartment in Maya Garden City, Zirakpur, on Monday and brutally assaulted a 29-year-old cab driver with a metal griddle and sticks. According to the victim, Pulkit, a native of Haryana's Kaithal, the main accused, Deepak Sachdeva, and three others reached his apartment around 11 am and started thrashing him. Hearing the commotion, some neighbours gathered around, following which, the accused fled.
