Man rams SUV into traffic ASI in Zirakpur; booked
Mohali, Feb. 15 -- A traffic assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was injured after a driver allegedly rammed his SUV into him during vehicle checking at Chhat Lights in Zirakpur on Friday. Police have registered a case against the accused.
ASI Harshpal, in-charge of the traffic point at Chhat Lights, was conducting routine checks around 11 am, along with other police personnel and a journalist when a black Scorpio N approached from the Mohali side. The vehicle was driven by Harshdeep Singh, with a woman seated beside him.
According to police, ASI Harshpal signalled the driver to stop. Instead, the accused allegedly accelerated towards the officer. Despite trying to move aside, the SUV hit him, causing him to fall and sustain injuries.
The driver fled the scene following the incident. The journalist present at the checking point rushed the injured officer to the community health centre in Dhakoli for treatment.
Zirakpur police have registered a case under Sections 109, 132, 221, 121(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched aninvestigation.HTC...
