Rudrapur, Jan. 13 -- A 73-year-old man was killed in a suspected tiger attack in the Surai forest range of Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district on Sunday evening, forest officials said on Monday. According to officials, the incident took place when the deceased, identified as Sher Singh Kanyal, of Baggha-54 village had gone into the forest to graze his cattle. After he did not return home, the villagers launched a search and later found his body in the Baggha-55 forest area around 11 pm. The incident was immediately reported to police and forest department. "Body was recovered from the forest after a search operation," said Rajendra Singh Manal, ranger of the Surai forest range under the Terai East forest division of Kumaon. "It does not appear to be a feeding attack. A tigress might be roaming in the area with her cubs and could have attacked the elderly man while trying to protect them," Manral said.htc...
