Mohali, Dec. 26 -- A 35-year-old man was killed after being hit by a speeding car near the village square of Manak Majra on December 23. The deceased has been identified as Ram Lakhan, a resident of Manak Majra and a native of Banda in Uttar Pradesh. Police said the incident occurred when Lakhan was walking home with his son, Rahul Kumar, after finishing work in Sector 87. As they reached the village square, a car struck Lakhan from the back, leaving him critically injured. Rahul told the police that the driver briefly stopped and stepped out of the vehicle but fled the spot as people began gathering. Rahul then arranged an auto-rickshaw and rushed his father to the Civil Hospital in Phase 6, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Based on Rahul's statement, the Sohana police have registered a case against the unidentified driver of a Chandigarh-registered car and launched an investigation.
