Man held for Rs.15 lakh fraud involving apple consignment
Panchkula, Nov. 16 -- The economic offences wing (EOW) of Panchkula police has arrested an accused involved in the fraud of Rs.15 lakh against an apple merchant.
According to the available information, an apple merchant, a resident of Jehanabad, Bihar, filed a complaint with Panchkula Police. He stated that on September 13, he purchased 902 boxes of apples from the Pinjore Apple Market, valued at approximately Rs.15 lakh.
For transportation, he contacted Ehsan, a resident of Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, who is also a truck driver, with the help of an acquaintance.
That same day, Ehsan loaded the apples onto the truck and departed from Pinjore towards Gaya, Bihar.
However, shortly thereafter, his phone was switched off, and he was found missing from his address. Based on the merchant's complaint, a case was registered at Pinjore police station on October 4 under sections 316(3), 318(4), and 61(2) of the BNS.
During the investigation, the police arrested the accused, Ehsan, on November 14. Upon interrogation, the accused revealed that he had sold all the apples loaded in the truck at the Saharanpur mandi in Uttar Pradesh.
The accused was produced in court on Saturday and has been taken on a five-day police remand....
