Haldwani, Nov. 6 -- Police have launched an investigation after a video surfaced on social media allegedly showing two men forcing a local resident from a minority community to chant religious slogans in Haldwani, police said on Wednesday. As per police, the incident took place near Judge's Court area along Nainital Road in Kathgodam. The victim was reportedly standing near the court when two men arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly demanded that he chant religious slogans , said police, adding that when he refused, the duo allegedly threatened him with dire consequences. Police said the victim reportedly recorded the entire incident on his mobile phone. The purported video, which later went viral on social media, shows one of accused issuing threats while insisting that the man chant the slogan, they added. Haldwani police inspector Amar Chandra Sharma said that the matter is being taken seriously. "We have received a complaint from the victim. The incident is being verified and an investigation has been initiated. Appropriate legal action will be taken once the inquiry is complete," he said.htc...
