Mohali, Dec. 9 -- A man and his daughter were killed after a truck rammed into their motorcycle from behind near Chhat light point in Zirakpur around 12.45 pm on Monday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Ramesh Chand, 40, and his daughter Sumita, an MBA student, both residents of Dera Bassi. After receiving information from the traffic in-charge, the State Safety Force (SSF) team, comprising constables Kanwaljeet Singh, Sukhdarshan Singh and lady constable Manpreet Kaur, rushed to the spot. They found both the victims critically injured and shifted them to the Dera Bassi civil hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The driver of the truck, bearing registration number UP21-CT-5766, fled the spot on foot, leaving his vehicle behind. The Zirakpur police station was informed and the road was cleared for traffic after the SSF team's intervention. Police are awaiting the family's statement to initiate legal proceedings against the accused truck driver....
