Mohali, Oct. 23 -- Police have registered a case under the Punjab Medicare Service Persons and Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2008, after a doctor at a private hospital in Sector 69 alleged misbehaviour by a patient's attendant. Dr Loveleen Kaur, who was on duty at her clinic on October 18, lodged a complaint saying that Swarandeep Singh, accompanying his wife for treatment, verbally abused and misbehaved with her during working hours. The accused used threatening language, disrupted her work, and left only after receiving warnings, she added. Based on her complaint, police invoked relevant sections of the Punjab Medicare Protection Act, which safeguards healthcare professionals and medical institutions from violence, intimidation, and property damage. Investigating officer Surinder Singh said the case is being taken seriously, as any form of threat or misbehaviour against medical staff is punishable under the Act. "The accused has not been arrested yet, and further investigation is underway," he added....
