Mohali, Nov. 18 -- A man was assaulted twice by a group of villagers in an attack on Saturday evening. The police are probing the angle of old enmity behind the attack. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Lovepreet Singh. According to the police, the man was returning from the gym in his BMW car when the accused intercepted his vehicle on the village road near bus stand. They pulled him out of the car and assaulted him with a sharp weapon, leaving him injured. The victim's family members informed the police and rushed him to Kharar civil hospital. Police said that while he was undergoing treatment, the accused reached the hospital and attacked him again. A case has been registered against 7 identified and 3 unidentified men under Section 109, which deals with attempt to murder, and 115(2), 126(2), 351(2), 117(2), 191(3) and 190 of BNS.
