PANAJI, Dec. 17 -- Fugitive entrepreneur brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra were arrested by Goa Police at Delhi airport on Tuesday, after they were deported from Thailand where they had fled hours after a devastating blaze ripped through a north Goa nightclub owned by them earlier this month. Later in the day, a Delhi court remanded them in two-day custody of Goa police. The two brothers -- Saurabh and Gaurav -- who were booked by the Goa Police under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 125(a) and (b) (endangering life and personal safety), and 287 (negligent conduct with fire or combustible matter) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, are expected to be brought to Goa on Wednesday morning. "Goa Police has taken custody of absconding accused Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra upon their arrival in Delhi following deportation by Thai authorities in connection with the Birch by Romeo Lane fire incident. All necessary legal formalities are being completed, and further investigation is underway as per law," the police said via an official statement. The brothers were arrested upon exiting from the Delhi airport by a team of the Goa Police, who, later in the day took them for a medical examination at the Indira Gandhi Superspeciality Hospital in Dwarka. They were later produced them before judicial magistrate Twinkle Chawla in the Patiala House Court to seek transit remand of three days. The court, however, allowed two days of transit remand and directed the police officials to provide prescribed medicines to both accused. Last week, a Sessions Court at Delhi had rejected their anticipatory bail pleas. In their plea, the brother had claimed that they were not responsible for the daily operations of the club, and blamed "an external third-party performer. who brought her own equipment, staff" and that "the legal provisions do not extend the liability" to them. A devastating fire engulfed the entire premises of Birch By Romeo Lane, killing at least 25 people, including 20 staff, on December 6. Hours later, the Luthra brothers fled to Phuket. An FIR has been registered against the Luthras and others under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 125(a) and (b) (endangering life and personal safety), and 287 (negligent conduct with fire or combustible matter) of the BNS. So far, six people have been arrested in the case -- five managerial staff and a sixth Ajay Gupta, identified as a business partner of the Luthra brothers, who ran the nightclub under the name Birch by Romeo Lane at Arpora in Goa. Police remain on the lookout for a sixth accused - Surinder Kumar Khosla - the owner of the property, who in 2023 signed a lease and licence agreement with Being GS Hospitality Goa Arpora LLP, the company under which the nightclub operated....
