BATHINDA, Dec. 10 -- The Ferozepur-Delhi Vande Bharat was forced to halt for nearly 30 minutes near Goneana Bhai Jagta railway station, located in the vicinity of Bathinda, this morning due to a protest by commuters of a passenger train. The premium train, which was flagged off on November 8 this year, leaves Ferozepur at 7.55 am and reaches Bathinda at 9.10 am. But due to the blockade, the train arrived at 9.46 am and departed after 9.54 am, leading to a delay of about 40 minutes beyond the scheduled running time. Official sources said that scores of Ferozepur-Bathinda passengers came onto the tracks in protest, stating that the movement of the Vande Bharat delays the short-distance passenger train. They were raising slogans against the railway authorities, against frequent, prolonged stoppage of the passenger train to make way for Vande Bharat on the same route. Government railway police (GRP) post in charge in Bathinda, Jasbir Singh, said that the station master of Goneana had alerted the loco pilot of Vande Bharat and the train was stopped at a distance from the railway station. Singh said that passengers were demanding that the Ferozepur-Bathinda passenger train should be allowed to pass first. GRP DSP, Ferozepur zone, Jaskaran Singh, said that the matter has been escalated to the railways authorities in Ferozepur. "Passengers were pacified, and there was no untoward incident during the unscheduled stoppage of the Vande Bharat," said the DSP. Bathinda district police authorities rushed a police team to Goniana. Bhucho DSP Pritpal Singh said that "We have got a videography of the railway traffic, and a case is being registered after identifying the culprits."...
