Learning Paths School Class 7 students visit Hindustan Times
Mohali, July 30 -- Class 7 students of Learning Paths School went on an educational trip to the Hindustan Times office on July 24, 2025, to gain first-hand experience of how news is gathered, edited, printed, and published. The visit aimed to bridge classroom learning with real-world media practices.
To ensure meaningful engagement, the students were divided into two groups. One group interacted with Ramesh Vinayak, editor, and Yojna Yadav, senior journalist at Hindustan Times. Vinayak provided an overview of the daily functioning of a newspaper, shedding light on editorial decision-making processes. Yadav elaborated on how journalists source, verify, and organise news stories, linking her insights to topics the students had recently studied in class, such as the format and purpose of a letter to the editor. The interactive session sparked curiosity, with students posing thoughtful questions that Yadav addressed with clarity and depth. Simultaneously, the second group explored the printing press section. A guided tour introduced them to the complex mechanics of newspaper printing and the logistical effort behind producing and distributing thousands of copies. The groups later switched to ensure that all students experienced both editorial and production aspects of newspaper creation, making the visit holistic and enriching. The visit concluded with refreshments, and the students returned with enhanced knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the field of journalism....
