Jammu, May 12 -- The bodies of two soldiers killed during cross-border firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir were cremated on Sunday, officials said. The bodies of Rifleman Sunil Kumar and Indian Air Force (IAF) assistant medical sergeant Surendra Kumar was brought to their residence in Trewa area of Jammu and Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, respectively. Sunil was killed during cross-border firing in RS Pura sector, while Surendra died during cross-border shelling at the Udhampur air base on Saturday, officials said. J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha paid homage to Kumar and laid a wreath. Sinha also paid tribute to Border Security Force (BSF) sub-inspector Muhammad Imteyaz, who died during cross-border firing in RS Pura. "Laid wreath and paid homage to BSF Braveheart Sub Inspector Md. Imteyaz, who made the supreme sacrifice during unprovoked firing by Pakistan. His valour and sacrifice will never be forgotten," he said on X. He visited the residence of Rajouri additional district development commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa, who died during shelling in Rajouri town. "Dr. Thapa's contribution to the processes of J&K's development is immense. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and numerous admirers in this hour of grief," the lieutenant governor said.
