Lakshmi Manchu breaks her silence on betting app controversy
India, Sept. 14 -- Actor-producer Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna has finally addressed reports linking her to the ongoing Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into online betting apps. In a recent interview, Lakshmi shared her candid thoughts, expressing frustration over what she described as the investigation's "misplaced focus": "I find it very humorous that our government will come to the tail end of the person. I'm like, bro, first look at who started it."
The 47-year-old voiced disappointment with how the media portrayed her involvement, especially since it remained unclear what actions were actually being investigated. "I was very upset because the newspaper picked up something, whereas what we did was something else. Poor things, they [the ED] are investigating where the money is going - apparently these [apps] are funding terrorists. We [those promoting the apps] didn't know that. So many other celebrities do it [endorse such apps]," she said.
