Mohali, Oct. 28 -- A 45-year-old labourer died after being hit by a speeding car near Daun village in Balongi on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Salik Ram, who was the sole breadwinner of his family. As per information, he was walking along the roadside opposite a furniture shop in the area when a speeding car, bearing a Himachal registration number HP31C2633, hit him, flinging him in the air several feet away. A passerby informed the police and called an ambulance, which took him to Phase 6 civil hospital. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Surinder, said, "The victim was a daily-wage worker and supported his entire family. The driver fled the scene after the mishap. We are scanning closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage to trace the accused." The ASI added that the body was handed over to the victim's family after the post-mortem examination on Monday.
