Kullu Fest brings winter warmth to city with vibrant woollens, traditional weaves
India, Dec. 14 -- Manu Weavers Handloom and Handicraft Society from Kullu has brought winter warmth to Chandigarh with its annual exhibition, Kullu Fest, currently on at Lajpat Rai Bhawan in Sector 15.
Known for its traditionally sombre palette of greys and blacks, the collection this season has embraced a more vibrant look. Jackets are available in shades such as tangerine, navy blue, mustard, aubergine and pink. According to the organisers, jackets have emerged as bestsellers, with sizes available for juniors as well.
The exhibition also features a range of pure wool shawls, with the Kani shawl taking centre stage for its intricate craftsmanship. Though they may resemble digital prints, these shawls are painstakingly handwoven, with artisans spending months mixing and matching threads to create each pattern.
Visitors can also browse through Pashmina, rabbit wool and yak wool shawls, all distinguished by the quintessential woven Kullu borders in geometric styles.
No woollen festival from the mountains would be complete without Angora wool caps, the much-in-demand Chamba socks, and vibrantly knitted mufflers and stoles. Budget-friendly options include sleeveless coats, jackets, gloves and stoles. A selection of home linen, including bedspreads and quilts, is also on offer.
