Mumbai, Sept. 16 -- On Sunday, Pune city police booked 58-year-old Manorama Dilip Khedkar, mother of former probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar, for obstructing police during their duty. The Khedkar family has once again made headlines, this time for allegedly keeping the helper of a cement mixer's driver confined at their home in Baner near Pune, after the vehicle collided with an SUV linked to the Khedkars on the Mulund-Airoli road in Navi Mumbai on Saturday evening. After the crash, the SUV driver and his aide allegedly abducted the helper of the cement mixer, Prahlad Kumar (22), on the pretext of taking him to the police station. Investigations later revealed that Kumar was confined at the Khedkars' bungalow in Baner, his phone seized and placed in flight mode. When a Navi Mumbai police team arrived at the National Society residence of the Khedkars, Manorama claimed to have released Kumar and refused to open the bungalow gates. "We showed her our identity cards and the FIR from the Rabale police station, but she declined to cooperate. Instead, she read the FIR and forwarded it to her lawyer," said an officer involved in the investigation. The next day, the SUV was no longer on the premises, leading police to accuse Manorama of tampering with evidence. Officers also alleged that she unleashed her dogs to obstruct them. A case has since been registered under sections 221, 238, and 263 of the BNS. Notices were pasted on the bungalow for the two accused, but the Khedkars' driver and his associate remain absconding.htc...
