K'taka CM, deputy share meal, present united front amid rumblings
Bengaluru, Nov. 30 -- Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday put up a united front, insisting there were no differences between them amid speculation of a leadership tussle in the state.
Addressing a joint press conference after a breakfast meeting at Siddaramaiah's residence, the two leaders said they were committed to working together.
"I had a breakfast meeting with Shivakumar because some unwanted confusion was created. We don't have differences... there won't be any in future as well," the CM said.
The meeting came against the backdrop of rumblings over the CM post. Siddaramaiah was apparently supposed to relinquish the post to his deputy after two-and-a-half years. He completed two-and-a-half years on November 20 and Shivakumar's supporters have been claiming that it is time for him to keep his "promise" to leave the post.
"We don't have factionalism. We will go together, take everyone along and abide by the party high command," Shivakumar said.
Leaders aware of the matter said even though the high command had asked the two to find a solution to the standoff, no decision was reached on Saturday.
