Johnny Depp breaks silence on Fantastic Beasts exit
India, July 10 -- Johnny Depp has finally addressed his controversial removal from the Fantastic Beasts franchise, nearly five years after it happened. In an interview with The Telegraph, the actor revealed he felt "shunned, dumped, booted, deep-sixed, cancelled" following his legal battle with ex-wife, actor Amber Heard.
Depp, who played dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the Harry Potter spin-off series, was asked to step down by Warner Bros. in 2020 - just days after losing a UK libel case against The Sun, which had labelled him a "wife beater". Despite denying the allegations, Depp was replaced by actor Mads Mikkelsen after reportedly filming just one scene."It literally stopped in a millisecond," he recalled. "They said, 'We'd like you to resign.' But what was in my head was - they wanted me to retire." The 62-year-old didn't hold back when asked about his reaction to the studio's decision. "F**k you," he said bluntly. "There's far too many of me to kill. If you think you can hurt me more than I've already been hurt, you're gravely mistaken."
Now directing Modi, a biopic on artist Amedeo Modigliani, Depp appears to be staging a quiet comeback, even as he reflects on what he calls Hollywood's attempt to erase him. HTC...
