JMM to fight polls solo on 6 seats
Ranchi, Oct. 19 -- The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Saturday said that the party would not contest the Bihar elections as part of the opposition INDIA bloc as it announced plans to contest six constituencies.
Addressing a press conference in Ranchi, JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya also underlined that the party would assess the status of the ruling alliance in Jharkhand following the results of the Bihar elections. The JMM-led INDIA bloc has been in power since 2019.
"We will contest six seats, including Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria, Pirpainti, Manihari and Jamui. Two of these seats-Katoria and Manihari-are reserved for Scheduled Tribes and Pirpainti is reserved for Scheduled Castes. We are going in election with full might to win these seats and ensure that JMM plays a role in next government formation in Bihar," Bhattacharya said.
"Now, it also becomes natural that after the Bihar polls, we reassess the formation of the alliance in the state because the JMM has always been cheated," the JMM leader added.
