Irrfan's Paan Singh Tomar BTS docu is a goldmine for cinema lovers: Director

n the sixth death anniversary of actor Irrfan on April 29, a documentary capturing the making of the 2012 film Paan Singh Tomar is set to be screened in Mumbai.
Titled A Story That Refused to Die, the 47-minute documentary is directed by Ranjeeta Kaur, who had also filmed the behind-the-scenes footage of Paan Singh Tomar. The film had won Best Feature Film and Best Actor for Irrfan at the 60th National Film Awards.
Describing the documentary as a "goldmine and tribute" to Irrfan, who died at the age of 53 after a prolonged battle with a rare neuroendocrine tumour, Ranjeeta shares, "After three years of shooting in 2009, the film released all of a sudden and we could not stream the making. I started reworking later but half of the 60 hours of content was lost, so it took time. After that, Covid-19 happened and Irrfan sir left us. Tishu sir (director Tigmanshu Dhulia) asked me to rework on it."
Tigmanshu, who was also a close friend of Irrfan, adds, "We are all very nostalgic about the film, which is everyone's labour of love and about my strongest confidante Irrfan. His contribution to cinema is eternal and these tapes are a goldmine for every cinema lover."...
