Install rooftop solar panels on govt buildings: Saini to officials
Chandigarh, Dec. 7 -- Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday ordered that government buildings like schools, colleges, hospitals, offices and godowns be equipped with rooftop solar systems to make a transition towards clean and green energy.
The CM who held a review of the budget announcements of the energy sector reviewed the progress of the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana and directed officials to expedite rooftop solar installations across households in the state.
An official spokesperson said that the CM ordered creation of solar parks across the state to harness Haryana's renewable energy potential. He also ordered immediate removal of old and defunct electricity poles from major state roads and highways in the interest of public safety.
Principal secretary, energy, Shyamal Misra said that 42,486 rooftop solar installations have been completed as of November 20 and a target has been set to install about 2.22 lakh rooftop solar systems by March 31, 2027. He said that power distribution companies have formulated a new scheme, 'Saur Urja Protsahan Yojana', primarily aimed at state government employees and regular electricity bill-paying consumers.
