Inspector held for accepting Rs.15-lakh bribe
Rohtak, May 16 -- Sonepat police have arrested an inspector for allegedly accepting Rs.15 lakh from the vice-chancellor of World University of Design in lieu of not arresting varsity supervisor Dharmendra Mishra, who had planted 400 poppy plants on the campus in March, a Sonepat police spokesperson said.
"Inspector Teja Ram accused vice-chancellor Sanjay Gupta of giving shelter to Mishra. He had demanded Rs.15 lakh from Gupta against giving clean chit to Mishra. On March 29, Gupta paid Rs.15 lakh to the inspector via an advocate. Then he filed a complaint against Teja Ram with Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur. A team probe the case and found the inspector guilty," said the spokesperson. htc...
