AMRITSAR, Oct. 18 -- All-India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF) chairman Maninderjit Singh Bitta on Saturday called for an inquiry into the withdrawal of security from Shaurya Chakra awardee Balwinder Singh Sandhu, 60. Sandhu was shot dead by unidentified persons at his residence in Bhikhiwind village of Tarn Taran district on Friday morning.

Bitta, who is known for his fight against terrorism, added, "There must be no politics in providing security to individuals. If brave hearts are killed like this, who will fight the battle for the country? It must be ascertained if the security was withdrawn under political pressure, or it was a routine decision."
