New Delhi, June 5 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told a Delhi court on Wednesday that people who had not cleared even class 8 were given jobs in the Railways in exchange for land sold at throwaway prices to former Union minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and his family. Special public prosecutor DP Singh, arguing before special judge Vishal Gogne in the land-for-jobs case, claimed that fake school documents were submitted for recruitment. "Candidates could not even write their names. Transfer certificates and mark sheets were forged. Headmasters from the listed schools have denied issuing these documents or having such students." The alleged irregularities occurred between 2004 and 2009, when Lalu was Union railway minister in the UPA government.
