BATHINDA, Dec. 12 -- Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal held rallies for the upcoming elections of the Zila Parishad and Block Samitis in his home district, Muktsar, on Thursday. Addressing election rallies in various villages, Badal invoked the legacy of his father, thelate chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, while appealing for votes for the party's candidates. The SAD chief hit out against the ruling AAP government, accusing it of poor law-and-order situation and misrule in Punjab. At a rally in Gidderbaha, Badal said the SAD patriarch, Parkash Singh Badal, a five-time chief minister of Punjab, had started his political innings from the assembly segment in 1969, and the voters of the area always worked to strengthen the party. He appealed to the voters to support the party in recognition of the development works done by "Bapu Badal". "These elections should be a mark of the end of the AAP government and the firm political position of the SAD," he added.
