Panchkula, April 6 -- The owner of Maccabi club in Sector-5, Panchkula, was arrested after two hookahs were recovered from the spot during a police raid in the wee hours of Sunday. Serving hookah in restaurants, bars, clubs or any other commercial establishment is strictly banned in Panchkula. The accused has been identified as Shubham Gupta, a resident of Naraingarh. As per information, sub-inspector Mandeep Singh of the Sector 5 police station was on patrol when his team received a tip-off about nicotine-based hookah being served illegally at the club. Acting promptly, the police team reached the spot and carried out a raid. During the operation, the club owner was found present on the premises. The team seized hookahs from the spot and sent it to a forensic laboratory for testing. A case was registered against the club owner underSections 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant), 271 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 272 (malignant act likely to spread infection) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 4 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) at the Sector-5 police station....
