Illegal construction by AAP leader razed on NGT's directions
BATHINDA, July 3 -- : The Faridkot district administration on Wednesday demolished part of a restaurant, Shahi Haveli, owned by an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Arsh Sachhar.
Additional deputy commissioner Harjot Kaur said that the demolition was undertaken on the instructions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
"There was a complaint with the NGT that the park area of the Baba Farid Enclave, a residential colony, was encroached upon. After detailed hearings in the matter, the tribunal found that a part of the commercial complex was built in the green belt area and the administration was directed to remove it," she said.
Official sources said that about three months ago, the AAP leader, Sachhar was asked to remove the unauthorised construction. When he did not follow the NGT order, the district authorities deployed an ample police force today and brought down the illegal portion of the restaurant located on the Faridkot-Kotkapura road....
