India, Aug. 19 -- Actors Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem have decided to stop waiting for opportunities and start creating them. The siblings have stepped into production, determined to tell the stories they once hoped others would entrust them with. "It's really that we are getting the opportunity to be first-generation producers," says Huma, who will soon see the release of her maiden production. "It came from a lack of opportunity, from the frustration of the early years when I felt, 'Oh my God, I can do so much more'. As an actor, I can only prove myself if you hire me for the job," explains Huma, who is also gearing up for the release of her investigative drama Bayaan. At 39, with acclaimed films like Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Dedh Ishqiya (2014), and Jolly LLB 2 (2017) behind her, Huma didn't want to waste time waiting: "There was a sense of going and talking to producers, convincing them to hire you. And that would leave you very broken-hearted. But there's this Qureshi gene that refuses to take no for an answer or allow us to be victims." Now, as decision-makers, the siblings are clear about the kind of production house they want to build: "We don't want to repeat the mistakes we've seen others make. Would I want to make a big film with massive stars? Sure, someday. But never at the cost of telling good stories or giving new faces a chance."...
