Karnal, Dec. 21 -- Eight passengers were injured when a speeding Haryana Roadways bus overturned on National Highway-44 near Atal Park in Karnal on Friday night. The bus, belonging to the Sonepat depot, was carrying around 45 passengers and was en route to Delhi from Chandigarh at the time of the accident. According to eyewitnesses, the bus was being driven at a high speed when it lost balance and overturned. Following the incident, the injured passengers were rushed to different hospitals, where they are currently undergoing treatment, police said. Transport minister Anil Vij on Saturday ordered a departmental inquiry into the accident and said that an advisory had already been issued instructing drivers not to exceed a speed limit of 60 kmph during foggy conditions. "Strict action will be taken against the driver if found guilty," Vij added. Manoj Kumar, station house officer of Sector 32 police station, said a case has been registered and the exact cause of the accident is being investigated.
