Chandigarh, March 20 -- Haryana urban local bodies minister Vipul Goel on Thursday issued directions to impose ban on opening of meat shops near sensitive locations within all municipal areas of the state during Navratri. The minister said that under the provisions of the Haryana Municipal Act, 1976, and the Regulation of Sale of Meat Act, a complete prohibition has been enforced on the opening of meat shops in the vicinity of religious places, places of worship, and educational institutions. He further clarified that no meat shop can be opened without prior permission from the licensing authority of the concerned local body.
