House burgled in Kajheri; gold jewellery, cash stolen
Chandigarh, Feb. 13 -- Thieves broke into a house in Kajheri village, Sector 52, and decamped with gold jewellery, cash and a gas cylinder while the family was away on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The complainant, Kamlesh, 65, told the police that she had gone to a gurdwara along with her husband for a neighbour's bhog ceremony, while her son was at work in Panchkula and her granddaughters were at school. When she returned home around 2.15 pm, she found the door of the inner room open.
On checking the house, she discovered that an iron box kept in the inner room was missing. The box reportedly contained a pair of gold earrings, a two-tola gold chain, two gold rings, a pair of silver anklets, around Rs.15,000 in cash and an SBI cheque book. A gas cylinder was also found missing from the kitchen.
The theft was reported to the police, following which a team from the Sector 61 police post reached the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry. Police registered a case under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated investigation....
