Harvest of plenty: Pinjore's mega mandi enters final stretch
India, Jan. 1 -- The vision of transforming Pinjore into a global agricultural powerhouse is fast becoming a reality. After a landmark 2025 that saw record-breaking apple trade-hitting nearly 1 crore boxes-Asia's most modern fruit and vegetable market is now entering its final phase of evolution.
What it means: By moving past the "seasonal" tag, the Pinjore Mandi is introducing transparent, modern commerce for small-scale farmers. The development of air-conditioned auction halls and fruit ripening centres will significantly reduce post-harvest losses, ensuring better prices for producers.
What next: The Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) has fast-tracked the final stretch of construction, aiming for full operationality by April 2026. This milestone will see the opening of 52 new shops and the commissioning of specialised sewage treatment plants to maintain the site's City Beautiful standards....
