Hoshiarpur, Jan. 16 -- A hardware shop owner was killed and his friend injured after unidentified assailants opened fire in Tanda's Miani village on Thursday evening. This is the second such incident in Tanda in less than a month. The deceased has been identified as Balwinder Singh, aged around 60, said police. As per information, he was at his shop with his friend, Lakhwinder Singh, when the assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened indiscriminate fire, killing Balwinder on the spot. Lakhwinder suffered a bullet injury on his shoulder and has been admitted at Tanda civil hospital. Tanda SHO Gurwinderjit Singh said the motive behind the crime is not yet known. "A search operation has been launched and we are collecting CCTV footage," he said. On December 18, two assailants shot dead a 40-year-old man in Tanda.
