Hansraj School hosts workshop on school health and wellness
Panchkula, June 2 -- Hansraj Public School organised a two-day capacity building programme, in collaboration with CBSE, on school health and wellness. The workshop aimed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills to integrate health, safety, and wellness education into the school curriculum. Around 60 teachers from CBSE-affiliated schools across the northern region attended the workshop.
The sessions were led by Jaya Bhardwaj, principal and Vinod Bhandari, principal, Guru Nanak School, Dalhousie - both seasoned educators and CBSE empanelled resource persons in the domain of health education. Participants explored 11 critical thematic areas outlined under the school health and wellness programme: Growing up healthy, mental and emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships and empathy, gender equality, values and responsible citizenship, nutrition, health, and personal hygiene, substance abuse prevention, safety from violence and injuries, reproductive health and HIV prevention, cyber safety, promotion of healthy lifestyles.
The resource persons made use of pedagogies, including case studies, role plays, experiential tasks, videos, reflective discussions, games, visual charts, and group work, enabling participants to understand not just the what, but the how of implementing health and wellness education in their classrooms.
Bhandari, in his session, noted," Health education is the heartbeat of a school that cares. When we embed values, safety, and empathy in the school culture, we create not just healthy students, but responsible and resilient citizens of tomorrow."
Bhardwaj stated," A school must become an ecosystem where well-being is not an intervention, but a way of life - where students, teachers, and staff thrive in a culture of care, safety, and shared values."...
