Gender sensitisation event at DC Model Sr Sec School
Panchkula, Sept. 15 -- An in-house Capacity Building Programme on Gender Sensitisation was conducted in the school premises of DC Model Sr Sec School, with Manisha Negi as the resource person. The session was highly interactive and engaging, focusing on creating awareness about gender equality and sensitivity in daily life. Negi involved the teachers in various activities, including role plays and a quiz to identify gender perspectives. Through these activities, the participants not only reflected on their own perceptions but also learned new vocabulary related to the topic. The session highlighted how stereotypes are formed and how they can be broken with conscious efforts.A key takeaway from the session was the role of teachers in inculcating gender sensitivity in classrooms. Teachers were guided to use inclusive language, provide equal opportunities in group activities, encourage both boys and girls to participate in leadership roles, and create an environment where every student feels valued.
