Mohali, Dec. 10 -- A fruit vendor was attacked with an axe by a resident of a housing society in Phase 1 on Monday. The victim, Mahavir Singh, suffered head injuries in the assault. Cops said the incident stemmed from a mix-up related to an earlier clash in the complex in which one person was injured whom Mahavir took to the hospital. Later, the victim's family confronted the housing society resident, accusing him of helping the attacker flee. The owner assumed that Mahavir had encouraged the family to confront him and he and his son allegedly attacked Mahavir with an axe before fleeing the spot.
