Srinagar, Feb. 11 -- Light rains were witnessed in various parts of Kashmir while mountainous areas like Gulmarg and Kupwara in north Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Tuesday. The meteorological centre in J&K said that the weather remained generally cloudy in Kashmir with light rains in various parts, including capital Srinagar. "The ski resort of Gulmarg received 24 cm of snowfall," an official of MeT said. The MeT said that the wet weather was expected to continue on Wednesday as well. "Partly cloudy with light snow at isolated higher reaches expected on Feb 11," an update by MeT said. Snowfall was also witnessed in the frontier district of Kupwara where officials said that snow clearance was immediately started. "Timely snow clearance facilitates patient shifting in Dardsun, Kupwara," Kupwara information department said in a post in X. In another post on facebook, it said that a joint rescue operation was launched by police, health department, roads and buildings department and Indian Army (104 Brigade) to save the life of a patient in Karnah. "The patient, a resident of Jabdi Bijaldhar village, was stranded as the village remained cut off from sub-divisional headquarters Tangdar due to heavy snowfall and avalanche warnings...The coordinated efforts of all departments ensured the safe evacuation of the patient, who was successfully shifted to sub district hospital hospital, Tangdar for further treatment, " an official statement said. The MeT also predicted another bout of light snowfall on Feb 13 but nothing major till Feb 20. " Feb 13 will be generally cloudy with possibility of light snow at isolated higher reaches," it said. "Overall no major rain or snow forecast over entire J&K till 21st February," the update said....
