Karnal, Oct. 16 -- A day after a police party was allegedly attacked during a raid to arrest a wanted illegal wood supplier, Yamunanagar police on Wednesday arrested four people, including a woman, in connection with the incident. The accused were identified as Kulwant Singh, 60, his son Dalip Singh alias Bunty, 32, Nirmal Devi, 45, and her daughter Parminder Kaur, 20. The attack took place when a team led by Chhachhrauli station in-charge sub-inspector Rohtash Singh reached Kot Majri village to arrest Parvinder Singh alias Pinder, who was wanted in two cases of illegal supply of Khair tree (Senegalia catechu or Acacia catechu) wood. According to ASI Vedpal, the station house officer (SHO) and four team members were confronted by the family, during which shots were fired with the intent to cause harm. No one was hit by bullets, but the SHO and at least three other officers sustained minor injuries. The prime accused, Parvinder, managed to escape, the ASI added.
