Silchar, Jan. 4 -- Four accused in the singer Zubeen Garg death case moved bail pleas before the sessions court in Guwahati during the third hearing in the case held on Saturday, even as the court fixed January 17 for framing of charges against all seven accused. According to lawyers associated with the case, the bail pleas were filed before the sessions judge Gautam Bora by Amritprabha Mahanta, Sandipan Garg and two personal security officers, Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya. Two of these four, including Amritprabha, are currently lodged in Haflong jail. Five accused, including the two PSOs, are in Baksa District Jail. Zubeen Garg died in Singapore on September 19, 2025, during a swimming incident, days before he was scheduled to perform at the North East India Festival. Following investigations, Assam Police charged seven people, including his manager Siddharth Sharma and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, alleging criminal negligence and murder.
