Forest fire causes land mine blasts along LoC in POONCH
Jammu, Jan. 13 -- A forest fire on Monday caused nearly half a dozen landmine blasts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonchdistrict, said officials on Monday.
However, there were no reports of any casualty in the blasts, they added.
"At 1.50 pm, a a forest fire suddenly broke out in Basooni Forward area near the LoC ahead of the fence in Balakote sector.
Around half a dozen landmines exploded in the fire," said a police officer.
The forward areas along the LoC have been dotted with landmines as part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system to prevent terrorists from intruding into Indian territory from across the border....
