Forensic witness dead, summons sent to two others
Chandigarh, Aug. 2 -- During the resumed hearing of the Sippy Sidhu murder trial on Friday, the CBI court was informed that a key forensic witness, Dr SS Baisoya, senior scientific officer at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Chandigarh, has died.
Special CBI judge Alka Malik said that the summons sent to Dr Baisoya had been returned with a report of his death.
In response, the public prosecutor formally gave up on presenting the witness and recorded a separate statement to that effect. "Summons sent to Dr Baisoya, senior scientific officer, CFSL Chandigarh, received back with the report of his death. Learned public prosecutor has given up, by making a separate statement," observed the judge.
Following this, the court issued fresh summons to two additional witnesses, Dr Amandeep Singh and Dr RM Tripathi, to appear on the next hearing date- scheduled forAugust 8.

According to the CBI chargesheet, Kalyani driven by the obsession of failed love affair (rejection of marriage proposal), fuelled by feeling of anger and morbid jealousy (due to affair of Sippy with another girl) and humiliation/embarrassment to the family (due to leakage of her objectionable photographs) hatched a conspiracy and called Sippy to the Sector 27 park and killed him by using a .12-bore gun.
Sippy's late grandfather, SS Sidhu, was a former Punjab and Haryana high court judge and late father, IPS Sidhu, was the additional advocate general of Punjab. His mother, Deepinder Sidhu, 69, a homemaker and brother Jasmanpreet Singh Sidhu, 39, an advocate and legal adviser for SGPC, live in Phase 3B2, Mohali....
