Jammu, May 6 -- Security forces have unearthed a terrorist hideout in the forest area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the recovery of five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and two wireless sets, officials said on Monday. All the ready-to-use IEDs, weighing between half-a-kg and five kg, were destroyed in a controlled explosion on-the-spot, thwarting terrorist plans to set off explosions in the border district, the officials said. The hideout was busted during a joint search operation by the army and special operations group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police at Suranthal in Marhote area of Surankote late on Sunday evening, the officials said. While two IEDs were found planted inside steel buckets, three others were packed in tiffin boxes, the officials said. In addition, the officials said two wireless sets, five packets containing urea, one five litre gas cylinder, one binocular, three woolen caps, three blankets and some trousers and utensils were recovered from the hideout. The police also released photos from the hideout. Opposition leaders demanded a thorough probe into the death of a 23-year-old man, whose body was fished out from a stream in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday amid allegations that the deceased was detained by security forces for questioning in the aftermath of Pahalgam terror attack. Though the police is yet to issue a formal statement, officials aware of the matter said that Imtiyaz Ahmad Magray was leading a team of security forces to a militant hideout when he allegedly jumped into the stream to escape but was swept away. "While leading a joint team of police and Army to raid the spot, he jumped into the Vishwa river in a bid to escape but was swept away by the strong current," an official said. Raising allegations of foul play into the death, Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti wrote on X, "Yet another body has been recovered from a river in Kulgam raising serious allegations of foul play. Local residents allege that Imtiyaz Magray was picked up by the army two days ago and now mysteriously his body has surfaced in the river." CPI(M) leader MY Tarigami said, "The incident calls for a thorough and impartial probe."...
